Umami Burger owner Adam Fleischman says he plans to open his first Bay Area outpost on Union Street on October 7th. It appears he's refined his tack a touch since we first spoke with him about the ingredients and everything in March. Now Fleischman says he's going to "modify his core menu with local San Francisco vendors," as opposed to bringing in the exact branded bun and meat combo he uses in LA. He'll also stock local wines and craft beers.
The new menu will be unveiled in about a week, but know this: he wants to be known for the best burger in San Francisco, not just GQ's favorite burger, as it were. Now about those other outposts Fleishman was working on in Oakland and the Mission, the deals have fallen through. Right now the Bay Area focus is 100% Union Street. When the joint opens, expect daily hours from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m., Sunday through Thursday and until midnight on Friday and Saturday.
