Out the Door Flood, Zero Zero Barrel-Aged Cocktails, More

New, 8 comments

BOOZE WIRE - Since bar manager Joel Teitelbaum moved on to headline the bar at the new Starlight Room, the future of barrel-aged cocktails at his former employer, Zero Zero, has been unclear. Today Zero Zero GM Tim Felkner writes with news that they're working on a batch of barrel-aged white Manhattans. The concoction of White Dog Whiskey vermouth, benedictine and Peychaud’s bitters is about to wrap up its four months, aging in American oak. The barrel will be tapped on Sept. 29th in conjunction with a release party from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m and cocktails priced at $6. Cue sighs of relief. [EaterWire]

THE TEMPORARY SHUTTER - Sir Paolo reports that Charles Phan's Out the Door location at the Westfield is closed for extensive repairs. Just like three years ago when this happened the first time, the Westfield's plumbing problems are the culprit. The restaurant is flooded due to drainage from they ceiling. They hope to reopen in the next month "or so." [ISSF]

THE LUNCH BUNCH - The Tender Nob's brand new Jasper's Corner Tap is now open for lunch daily from 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. There's also a new "all day menu" on off-hours. And special NFL game day deals! For example, $2 sliders and $2 Miller High Life will be offered during the upcoming Packers-Saints game on Thursday. Plan around this, people. [EaterWire]

CHEF SHUFFLES - Carneros Bistro & Wine Bar has found a replacement for chef Janine Falvo, who moved on in April. The new chef is Greenwich, CT native Andrew Wilson, who worked at a handful of SF restaurants, including Cafe Kati, early in his career. Then he spent 10 years in South Carolina as executive sous chef at the famous McCrady’s. The press release says his new menu will include nods to the Asian, Southern and European flavors at several restaurants on his resume. [EaterWire]

THE SHUTTER EXTRA - Our man Kauffman has broken two smaller-time shutters on his Twitter account over the past few days. The first is the Outer Sunset's SJ Crawfish , which appears to have morphed into a Rice Valley moon cake pop-up shop. The second is Chinatown's Y. Ben House, which our Eater spies confirm has been closed "for a little while" now because the owner retired. [@jonkauffman]

HELP WANTED - Fresh off the thrill of hiring a bouncer for its Mission store, Bi-Rite Market has announced they're hiring an Assistant Manager for its Divis store on Craigslist. They even offer a medical and dental plan after 90 days, which not everyone gets these days! [EaterWire, Twitter, UA]
