U-Sushi Brings Customizable Speed Sushi to Market St.

New, 5 comments

Just when you thought 90-second grilled cheese was the next big thing in tech-minded fast food, Ozumo's founders have come out with a robot powered design-your-own-sushi concept, U-Sushi. The first outpost rolled out at the end of the year in Los Angeles, and now San Francisco is set to get its FiDi edition in the former Chipotle Grill spot on Market at Battery. The website says you get to choose from "over 40 high-quality, fresh, healthy ingredients.

Then, with the aid of state-of-the-art 'robot automation', our chef prepares the rolls right there in front of them in less than a minute." PR clarifies that sushi is "hand-rolled by expert 'u-chefs,' but the process is assisted by an automated rice mixer, sheeter, and cutter, so the average sushi roll is rolled and served up in under a minute." Eater LA says the rolls are wrapped in paper, like a sub sandwich, so you can eat your roll on the go. Hear that, Sushirrito? Take a look at the menu here, and expect U-Sushi to open its doors the week of the 16th.
