In addition to all the new bars in Emeryville now, Oakland's Lakeshore neighborhood got a new one on Jan. 3 when Easy Lounge (3255 Lakeshore Ave.) reopened as The New Easy after a big revamp. the bar looks totally different now, serving this winter menu of farm-fresh cocktails at a new copper top bar, wooden picnic-like table seating or a patio out back. Cocktail writer Camper English was particularly smitten with the Mat Hatter, a drink made with rum, golden raisin puree, carrot juice and ginger soda. The open kitchen will be pumping out bar bites any day now, and they'll open at 2 p.m. on Saturdays in conjunction with the nearby Grand Lake Farmer's Market.
