NORTH BEACH — Comstock Saloon (155 Columbus) is going country on the weekends. Beginning January 15, "Honky-Tonk Sundays" will fill the bar with a DJ spinning Waylon Jennings, Charlie Daniels, and the like alongside a weekly Southern blue plate special and drink deals including shot and beer combinations such as the Boot to the Head (bourbon and Anchor Steam). [EaterWire]
THE SHUTTER — Piazza Market (627 Vallejo), the weird unmarket/wine shop/sort of restaurant, has bid arrivederci to its 7000 square foot space, which is now for lease. The reason claimed is to focus on catering, but that seems suspicious. [ISSF]
FIDI — The already-elegant Quince (470 Pacific) has gone and spiffed up the bar area and created a 16-seat lounge. A dedicated new menu offers caviar, crudo, meats, cheeses, and sweets. [Grub Street]
SOMA — Forthcoming Hayes Valley bread pudding shop Schulzie's will host a boozy preview event at Bloodhound (1145 Folsom) on January 16. "Bread Pudding, Bourbon & Beer" will feature $6 flights of bread pudding (Outrageous Orange Cardamom, Very Chocolate Cherry, Wonderful Whiskey-A-Go-Go) that can be paired with bourbon for $15. Proceeds will go to foster youth non-profit Strive For. More info here. [EaterWire]
