MILL VALLEY — The picture above shows the first look of the work in progress that is the latest step in the comeback for Gordon Drysdale's fresh take on the cafe for The Sweetwater Music Hall. Two mermaid paintings that were a hallmark of the original Sweetwater are pretty much all that lingers in the handsome new brick, brass and pistachio-accented revamp of a 107-year-old former Masonic Lodge. Opening is still looking like the end of the month. [EaterWire]

POP-UPS — Hapa Ramen will roll to the Lower Haight to serve dinner at Wing Wings on February 7. If that seems too interminably far off, grab some reservations for the pop-up at Bar Tartine on January 23. [EaterWire]

SHUFFLES — The speculation as to who would replace David Lynch as wine director of Quince and Cotogna has now been silenced. Chris Baggetta will arrive in early February, fresh from her head sommelier stint at the lauded Eleven Madison Park in New York. [ISSF]

MISSION — La Cocina has just released the details for a slew of enticing Artisan Cooking Classes, including a Russian session from Anda Piroshki, vegan Ethiopian from Hella Vegan Eats, and Mexican from El Buen Comer. Peruse the full schedule. [EaterWire]

SONOMA — Ben the Bachelor's wine has been deemed "a little fruity." The Chard gets higher marks than the Cab, but neither seems to be leaving this affair with a rose. [Serious Eats]
