POP-UPS — 34-year-old Hung Lam a.k.a. Soup Junkie has yet to find a very good restaurant that serves really good Vietnamese/Chinese noodle soup, so he's doing a pop-up this Friday from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m. at Vinyl Wine Bar (359 Divisadero). Lam will serve bowls of his tomato-based crab bun rieu to the first 40 people who show up. More information here. [EaterWire]
COFFEE BUZZ — The latest in caffeinated listicles is dubbed "America's Coolest Coffeehouses" and shouts out Four Barrel and Blue Bottle. The latter is called "one of the major shrines on the national coffee circuit." [The Atlantic]
SWITCHAROOS — Crêpe o Chocolat (75 O'Farrell) is now called Bio. Healthier fare is replacing the Nutella-stuffed crepe options, but they've thankfully left the homemade kombucha menu, including the zingy cayenne pepper flavor, intact. [Grub Street]
EXPANSIONWIRE — Organic frozen dessert purveyor Fraiche has moved its original Palo Alto location down the street to the former A.G. Ferrari (200 Hamilton). The relocation has brought more space, more seating, and a new machine dispensing new flavors, currently Oreo cookie frozen yogurt and grapefruit hibiscus sorbet. [Froyogirl]
COMING ATTRACTIONS — Getting tipsy at the Exploratorium is an annual fundraising affair that doesn't require all the physics experiments. The Science of Cocktails explores the chemical and biological processes behind getting you drunk, and then actually gets you drunk. This year's edition takes place on January 26; procure tickets here. [EaterWire]
