Over the weekend, Eater received word that Picán's Dean Dupuis will be leaving his perch as executive chef at the end of February. Dupuis, who came on at the Uptown Oakland Southern fine dining restaurant about three years ago, will be moving on to "a very good opportunity" at a 150-seat to-be-named Robert Wiedmaier restaurant in the hot forthcoming Atlantic City resort Revel. Picán owner and New Orleans-native Michael LeBlanc is about to fly south to Northern Savannah and Charleston in search of his next chef. According to our sources, he wants to solidify the restaurant's Southern cred while strengthening ties to local farmers.
