EXPANSION WIRE — So far, the Richmond District restaurant space at 5120 Geary has seen two failed shabu concepts in Hot in the Pot and Oozora Sake House. Now Shabuway is hoping not to be the third strike. This is the fourth Bay Area location of the concept, and the first in San Francisco. Maybe shabu would stick around in these parts if there weren't so many mediocre purveyors of it. [Grub Street]

FOOD TRUCKS — Doc's of the Bay will herewith sling burgers at the corner of Mission and 22nd Streets from 6 p.m. to 1 a.m. on Saturdays. There's also talk of Sunday nights at 16th and Valencia toward the end of the summer. [Mission Local]

SWITCHAROOS — Lush Lounge replacement and "straight-friendly gay bar" Mark's is now running full-tilt on Polk Street, and Every Bar in San Francisco's Heather Cummings likes it: "it provides a contrast to the very young, very wasted bad-dance-party/pickup-joint bar scene that Polk Street has become." [Every Bar in San Francisco]

COMING ATTRACTIONS — Around the World in 80 Sips hosts its fourth annual wine tasting event on February 10 at Golden Gate Club (135 Fisher Loop). As the name promises, there will be a room full of 80 international wines alongside cheese and charcuterie plates. Tickets ($75/$125 VIP) here. [EaterWire]
