Trick Dog made things official with the California ABC over the weekend, and co-owner Josh Harris says the space is actually starting to resemble a bar. Remember this is the latest concept from Harris, Scott Baird and Jason Henton of the Bon Vivants, coming in right across the courtyard from Central Kitchen. Its Facebook page sheds a little more light on the "kick-ass, well made, no bullshit" vibe they're going for, with food and music as well. Harris says the opening will happen "soon," though that's a relative term, considering the build-out has been in-the-works for two years and counting.
He's currently in "full-on salvage mode," gathering vintage elements that will intermix with technologically advanced materials in the decor. "'Colorful' is at the top of our list for the design," adds Harris, and as you can see in the gallery above, a "rosy, garnet" pink SEMCO floor finish was just laid in the mezzanine. Since this is a bar opening in San Francsico, you better believe there will be reclaimed wood involved, but Harris says it will be intermixed with many other materials: vintage marble, cast iron, vinyl, wood, tile and stone to create a warm, eclectic decor. A more definite opening window is still forthcoming.
