Rajat Parr's New Digs Taking Shape

New, 2 comments

Construction is officially underway at the former Shanghai 1930 space on Steuart, where lauded sommelier Rajat Parr and the Mina Group are installing The Company Bar & Kitchen, a new, nearly 5,200sqft, 130-seat Indian restaurant.

LA-based AK Design Network (who just finished up Gordon Ramsay's awesome-looking new The Fat Cow) is behind the build, which's projected to finish in time for a summer 2013 opening date.

From Parr: "(We've) been dreaming up the details for The Company Bar & Kitchen for the past few years and we're thrilled that construction is finally underway... This project will be a very energetic bar and restaurant that will add new flavor and flair to Steuart Street's impressive beverage and culinary line-up."

The Company folks don't get into a ton of specifics on the menu other than saying it will offer a selection of "sharable plates blending classic Indian flavors and techniques with the bounty of locally-sourced ingredients available in the Bay Area". Yum.

The bar & lounge and main dining room will be split into two separate rooms with views of the open kitchen, which's designed by Frank H. Muller in conjunction with restaurant consultant Mark Stech-Novak. [EaterWire]
