Consider next week "Todd Selby Week" here in San Francisco. The California-native New York City-based journalist, photographer and illustrator is celebrating the release of his new book, Edible Selby, with a series of food and art related events all over the Bay Area.
The book itself is an exploration of global culinary culture through portraits of the people who create what we eat, from farmers to foragers to famous chefs, including locals like Danny Bowien of Mission Chinese Food. Each of Selby's portraits also includes a recipe, making the book a functional piece of art (and it comes with refrigerator magnets to boot).
Head to Bar Tartine on Monday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for sandwiches created by guest chefs Danny Bowien, Ignacio Mattos, and Russell Moore inspired by Selby's book. You can also purchase a copy.
On Tuesday night you can party with Todd from 6-10 p.m. at Bar Jules. Camino in Oakland is hosting a star-studded multi-course dinner party on Wednesday at 6 p.m., and Thursday at 5 p.m. Selby will be signing copies of his book at SFMoMA, followed by a rooftop reception. [EaterWire]
