Miss Ollie's Sets The Table, Teases Menu Items

Sarah Kirnon is posting all sorts of updates about Miss Ollie's on Facebook, and it looks like lunch may be starting at her new Swan's Market restaurant any day now. Over the past weeks, walls have been painted, a Wolf range has been installed, colorful vintage enamel plates have been purchased, and the tabletops have arrived. Kirnon also drops a few "teaser" menu items: "crispy aubergine / tamarind sauce, Curried Mixed squash, bitter melon/ baras bread, "Sancocho stew" chicken/ plantain/ yucca/, "cou cou" cornmeal porridge, steamed fish/ spicy tomato broth, and avocado/ persimmon/ red onions/ sweet lime.

Remember the whole concept is based on the Caribbean "one-stop" idea, with a shifting daily offering. So far, it sounds like Tuesdays will be " orange plate special" fried chicken, and the Wednesday "green plate special" will be curried goat. Tropical stout and ginger beer will be offered on draft, and they've got fifty liters of the traditional sorrel drink in the works.

Meanwhile, Diablo Dish has the details on another concept coming into focus nearby, the fresh oyster- and fried chicken-serving The Cook and Her Farmer. All of the above will join Cosecha, and the forthcoming Rosamunde outpost, making Swan's Market hotter and hotter as the end of the year approaches.
