The Pear
720 Main Street, Napa, CA
Phone: 707-256-3900
Status: Now Open
After a grand opening party (with cake pops) on Saturday night, Danville restauranteur Rodney Worth opens The Pear today in downtown Napa. The new restaurant takes over where Tyler Florence's Rotisserie & Wine left off. The bones and plate ware are still there, and the trademark of Worth's renovation seems to be a pear-colored floor-to-ceiling paint job. Now, dishes have been honed, vanity plates have been made, and the restaurant is ready to go.
The menu is "classic American" meets "Southern comfort" with "some staples from New Orleans." They'll make use of the gorgeous spit-roaster in the kitchen to churn out roast chickens, and the Facebook has many shots of the other dishes to be served: hushpuppies, gumbo, barbecue ribs, mac n' cheese, meatloaf with mashed potatoes, maple syrup fried chicken, shrimp and grits, fried pickles, chicken and dumplings, and you get the gist. Desserts include crumbles with ice cream and bananas flambe.
The Pear is wine and beer only, including Abita by the bottle. Hours are 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Sunday through Thursday, and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.
