Some 2,600 beer industry types, gurus and fans showed up for a sold-out SF Beer Week Opening Celebration on Friday night at the Concourse Exhibition Center in SoMa. Seriously, day-of tickets were selling for higher than market value on Craigslist, and lines were wrapping around the block just a few minutes after the event kicked off at 6 p.m. Such is the state of craft beer in the Bay Area right now.

Once inside, everyone was greeted with a branded beer glass, ready to be filled with brews from 68 different breweries on-site, representing all parts of the Bay Area. The food selection wasn't too shabby either, with Wise Sons pastrami sandwiches, Rosamunde's huge sausages, Pica Pica arepas and more to keep everyone from drinking themselves silly. Not surprisingly, the longest line of the night was for the bathroom—by far. Take a look at the highlights in this gallery here, and be sure to check out the schedule of hundreds of events taking place for the remainder of the week. You can safely say it: craft beer is a thing.
