The Haight, the Mission and the SoMa have brew pubs, now the Western Addition might get one too. Neighborhood blog Local Addition brings word of Barrel Head Brew House, now angling for the Auto City Repair and Body Works space at 834 Divisadero St. Owner Ivan Hopkinson—whose name you may remember from the aborted Fulton St. Brewpub project—is currently enduring the fund-raising, licensing and permitting process in the hopes of beginning construction in this lifetime. There is dreamy talk of house-made sausages and buffalo wings to be made by Le Meridien sous chef Andrew Vennari.
And further teasing: Hopkinson hopes to make the Brew House a family friendly place, and he's hoping to build it out to flaunt gas lanterns flickering on the street and nary an ounce of deforested wood inside. Also: Benjamin Franklin’s stout beer recipe. Maybe a Kickstarter fund is in order here? Regardless, a brew pub would be much appreciated in the ever-developing Divis corridor.
