Ryan Scott's Market & Rye Set To Open Next Week

New, 3 comments

Nice move: Ryan Scott changed the name of his new fast casual concept from Please & Thank You to Market & Rye. A new nod to Ryan's knickname, "Rye," and market-fresh vegetables, perhaps? Yes, please—and thank you. Jim Maxwell is officially helping with the design now, and they are dropping "elegant" as a descriptor for the food and the decor. From that little glimpse of the awning there, it is looking very Nantucket prepster, indeed. The first outpost will open in West Portal some time next week, offering 6 pre-made salads sold by the scoop, and a build-your-own salad bar too. (A detailed look at all these salad options awaits after the hop.) Something to keep in mind: there will be four breads made "just for Market & Rye": sourdough, whole wheat with oats and salted rye, of course. Something like the sandwiches and soups people loved back in Scott's Myth Cafe/Top Chef days will also be offered.

Die-hard Ryan Scott groupies and even non-groupies should consider tuning into his new two-hour-long Saturday afternoon slot on KGO radio. This weekend, Top Chef's Carla Hall and Elizabeth Falkner will be on, talking about her new Brooklyn pizza place, no doubt. Then Tom Pizzica of Outrageous Food and Wayfare Tavern's Tony Marcell will do a burger "showdown," which will probably be some kind of conversation about burgers. So much Ryan Scott in your future.

And now, the menu:
