Following Monday's news that Criolla Kitchen is temporarily closed, chef Randy Lewis writes to say that the restaurant's ownership has shuttered the business for good:
"There is more to the story than a restaurant not successful [sic].The restaurant was successful until an unfortunate thing occurred. I'm not a liberty to divulge much at this time..."
As you know, this means the new partners' (Hans Purohit of Ristobar and Adam Wilson of Beretta) impending plans to turn the restaurant around won't reach fruition. No word yet on whether or not this effects the Emeryville BBQ project Lewis, Purohit and Wilson were working on.
