1) Nob Hill: California Street just got a school-themed bar with student desks and chalkboards in it: Gold Star Bar. They also have things not found at schools, like a full liquor license and a pool table. 1548 California St. 415-292-5004 [7x7]

2) Inner Richmond: A new family run business called Café Coco is now serving sandwiches priced at under $7, salads, and breakfast fare. The Richmond Blog says they also have a faux fireplace and a large screen TV is coming soon. 4201 Geary [TRB]

3) Oakland: News leaked in January that Le Cheval would return to the location it was evicted from, and Inside Scoop says they've been open for over a week now at 1007 Clay. They gave the interior a re-do, but the food is basically the same beloved French-Chinese-Vietnamese they've always offered. 1007 Clay St., 510-763-8495 [ISSF]

4) Outer Richmond: Cassava started serving espresso drinks, breakfast and lunch fare today. The opening menu is here, listing everything from peanut butter cornflake cookies to pressed ham and cheese. They'll also be offering monthly intermittent pop-up dinner service. 3519 Balboa St., 415-640-8990 [EaterWire]

5) Palo Alto: Asian Box opened in Palo Alto’s Town & Country Village on Friday, serving customizable, gluten-free rice bowls in a clean, quick-service atmosphere. More Bay Area locations are coming this year. 855 El Camino Real #21

6) Berkeley: A new Ligurian and Italian Riviera inspired restaurant called Divino is now open on University. Sounds like they've got a locally sourced slant as there is Staus cream in the béchamel. 1401 University Ave., 510-841-5200 [Tablehopper]
