The third outpost of Vietnamese restaurant Perilla (5423 Geary) is set to debut for lunch and dinner on April 12. Like the other two locations (in the Sunset and Soma, respectively), the menu is pho-and-bun-centric, but also has a large selection of garlic noodle or rice plates with charbroiled meats and vegetables.
Besides Perilla, owner Tin Truong is behind PPQ Beef Noodle House Restaurant, PPQ Dungeness Island, and Toasties. The Perilla menus contain many of the same items served at the PPQ restaurants, with a little more effort put in the interior design.
As this opening marks a point of expansion for one restaurant owner, so it marks the downsizing of another. The new Perilla occupies the former Pho Clement 2, which still has its original restaurant open nearby on (surprise, surprise) Clement Street.
