Restaurant champion/Supervisor Scott Wiener has put new legislation forward that would ease the "Frankenstein monster" of running a small restaurant in San Francisco. By reducing the number of city-recognized restaurant categories from 13 to three, the hope is to eliminate unnecessary micromanaging—as in restaurants that are permitted to sell bagels, but not toast them; or to offer ice cream in cups, but not cones. The law could be voted in as soon as Tuesday. [Chron]
