Fork Cafe (469 Castro St.), a new restaurant from Sam Sirhed officially opens today in the former Fuzio space at Castro and 18th Streets. Manager Ed Mugatash says an all-day American menu will be served daily: omelets, pancakes and waffles for breakfast; sandwiches and salads for lunch; dinner entrees that include pasta, steak and salad.
The dining area encompasses 49 seats, an outdoor patio, a living wall inside and a full bar. Sirhed opened Burger Urge on Haight Street last year, and Fork Cafe is a similar attempt to provide the community with a restaurant and gathering place. At the start, hours are 9:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday. The website is still in the works.
