David Kinch, chef at the two Michelin starred Manresa in Los Gatos, has recently announced two new chef hires. The first, Jessica Largey, will be running the kitchen as chef de cuisine. And the second, Stephanie Prida, is the new pastry chef picking up where Belinda Leong left off. Both of these women are 26 years old. To say the least, that's a rarity in a field dominated by men. Kinch tells the Chron, "My kitchen is now 75 percent female, and I love it."
Meanwhile, Kinch is nailing down the details of his big 10 year anniversary. He's planning to welcome a slew of former colleagues into the kitchen in mid-July. Carlo Mirarchi of Roberta’s in Brooklyn will cook on July 13, and Belinda Leong (b. patisserie), former chef de cuisine John Paul Carmona, Charlie Parker (Freddy Small's), James Syhabout (Commis), Jeremy Fox, Michael Gaines (Central Kitchen), and Marty Cattaneo (Dio Deka) will also play in the kitchen during the following weekend. Eater will pass on more on the dinners and reservations as soon as the info is released.
