The worker's comp group for Slanted Door, Lark Creek, and some 1,600 restaurants has recently hit up members for "tens of thousands of dollars" based on a recent audit. Perbacco, for example, is on the hook for $35K over the next 18 months. Once upon a time, California Restaurant Mutual Benefit Corp. had rates "way below market," but no longer. Says Perbacco GM Umberto Gibin: “I’m not happy about it, but there doesn’t seem to be a way out.” [SFBT]
