1) Dogpatch: Marcella's Lasagneria & Cucina opened on May 22. The owners have occupied their Tennessee Street space for more than 20 years, but until now they've largely cooked artisanal food for independent grocers in the Bay Area. The pitch: "fast food for a slow food mentality." [Dogpatch Howler]

2) Excelsior: It didn't take but a month for Live Sushi to move from permitting to opening a third location in San Francisco. This one's in the Excelsior in the former Da'Kine's Hawaiian BBQ. [Grub Street, Eater SF]

3) Presidio: Transit Cafe at the Presidio is a new casual cafe opening today in what used to be the fancier La Terrasse. Nearby, Dixie makes its big debut on May 29. [ISSF, EaterWire]

4) Oakland: Donut Savant is dropping chocolate bombs and other oh-so-bad but oh-so-good ideas in the Broadway food corridor. [Thrillist]

5) Carmel: 400° Gourmet Burgers & Fries heads to Eastwood's address-less town, taking up stakes at the corner of Mission and Seventh Streets and opened on May 23. It's the brainchild of Carmel luxury developer David Fink (Cantinetta Luca, L'Auberge Carmel Relais & Chateaux). [EaterWire]
