FOIE FINALE — Since the statewide ban looks to be on and popping, Alexander's Steakhouse (448 Brannan) hosts a foie gras dinner to benefit C.H.E.F.S. on May 5. The six-course tasting menu from chef Marc Zimmerman is $165; reservations are required and can be secured on OpenTable or through the restaurant. [EaterWire]

SALMON! — This year's season is expected to yield record numbers of salmon for Bay Area fishermen. They're on the rebound, without broken hearts. [CBS]

MISSION — Tablehopper noticed that Pig & Pie (2962 24th St.) went live with its website and menu. There were previous allusions to "items that you won't see anywhere else," but the menu looks to be quite focused on pork sausages and pies. However, you'll be able to order those sausages in novel forms on a bun, such as a baked chorizo and egg number. The hope is for a mid-May opening. [Tablehopper]

FIDI — Michael Mina (252 California) and RN74 (301 Mission) feature wines from Languedoc in Burgundy on May 7 and 14, respectively. Mina's is a six-course dinner for $125 ($60 wine pairings), while RN74's runs $55 ($35 wine pairings); the route nationale 74 for which the latter draws its name cuts through Languedoc, so it's super topical [EaterWire]
