It's time to take a look at the clean, modern, light-filled future Mission cafe that is Craftsman And Wolves. The brainchild of pastry chef William Werner, it is just about ready for an official first day in business this Saturday. A bunch of media types gathered this morning to sample items from the menu, which included "The Devil Inside," a very rich afternoon snack that tucks a chunk of foie gras inside a walnut- and toffee- ridden chocolate exterior, and a host of savory options like a slow-cooked carrot sandwich with chevre and cucumber. Now take a moment for a virtual walk around Zack de Vito's design: all 25-foot ceilings, custom-designed 20-foot pastry case, and exposed brick. A large communal table seats 12. Visit for yourself this Saturday, when Craftsman and Wolves opens to the public at 8 a.m.
