Craftsman and Wolves wasn't able to open on Saturday morning as planned because an inspector hadn't yet signed off on the air conditioning decibel levels. (Yes, this is a real thing that happens more often than you know in SF.) Unwilling to disappoint people, pastry chef and owner William Werner decided to hand out free pastries, cake cubes, and such to an eager crowd all morning long. Werner says the inspector is scheduled to come out tomorrow morning, and the hopeful opening is newly set for Wednesday. Bide your time waiting to sink your teeth into this delightful creation by reading Werner's "insider's guide" to the Mission via GQ magazine. It includes the "out of control" beer collection at Monk's Kettle, "great flavor combinations" at Bar Tartine, brunch at Foreign Cinema, and fried chicken with smoked jalapeno buttermilk dressing at Blue Plate.
