More details trickle in today regarding Tout Sweet, the cafe and pâtisserie Top Chef: Just Desserts winner Yigit Pura will be opening with his partners at Taste Catering on August 25. The space will occupy 1500-square-feet on the third floor of Macy's Union Square, with room for 20 people at tables and chairs along with a central communal table. Finally, there's also some clarity as to what precisely will be served. On the sweet end, Pura will offer macarons, morning pastries, small French-style cakes and layered parfaits, and many seasonal offerings. There will also be breakfast sandwiches in the mornings.
Lunch will include something called the "B3 sandwich," made with bread, butter and burrata, along with more sandwiches, salads, quiches and fare one would want while shopping in a department store. Showing his super creative side, Pura is also launching a line of desserts inspired by great historic visionaries, like the "Tesla," a cake made with an "electric" flavor combination of yuzu, meyer lemon and passion fruit, as a nod to Nikola Tesla’s translation of electricity into power. "Inspiration for me is everywhere," says Pura.
