Joseph Humphrey's Presidio sparkler, Dixie, is a little over a month old now, so it's time to start rolling things out. Take the special "cocktail hour," unleashed this week. Humphrey has decided to offer one beer, one cocktail, and two wines by the glass for $5, Monday through Friday from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. This week's cocktail is "The Debutante" (Buffalo Trace Bourbon, orange and pineapple juices, smoked Sopchoppy cane syrup and lemon verbena). Housemade barbecue potato chips are complimentary during this time as well.
And if you haven't dialed in the Fourth of July plans yet, Dixie will open up its huge heated patio in the Presidio, a great vantage for watching the fireworks launch from Angel Island. The full regular menu and bar menu will be available, and the kitchen is adding a $5 grass-fed burger for the occasion from 4 p.m. to close. Considering how new Dixie is, this could be the town's best kept secret for holiday celebrating.
