August Openings: Farina Pizza, The Perch, Shanghai, More

1) The Mission: Barricade walls are down at Farina Pizza, and the opening is being pushed back to early August, when chairs should arrive at the space. Owner Luca Minna sends a few new details from abroad: they'll open at 7 a.m. for Italian pastries and espresso; pizzas will be baked in an old Italian brick oven using San Marzano tomatoes and foir di latte mozzarella; chef Paolo Laboa will create a menu of appetizers, fried and marinated bites, grilled and stewed meats, while debuting his Farinata, a Genovese garbanzo bean flatbread. 2) The Mission Extra: Co-owner Peter Hood writes to say that the opening of The Perch at the former Corner space is still about four to six weeks out. [EaterWire]

3) The Dogpatch: Michael Recchiuti's Chocolate Lab and full-service cafe has a website now, and they are looking for a GM. The Lab is slated to open in September while the Little Nib next door will open August 21st. [EaterWire]

4) The Castro: Shanghai, the new “modern Shanghai" concept Francis Tsai is putting into the Mecca/Pudong/Gingerfruit space, is planning to open on August 15. [EaterWire]

5) Inner Richmond: A new pastry, cake, cookie and retro dessert specialist, Pretty Please Bakeshop, is coming to a former boutique space at 291 3rd Avenue. Madame Hopper says it "is tentatively set for the first week of August." [Hopper]

6) Berkeley: "Vietnamese-inspired" Cafe V will be officially opening any day now at 2056 San Pablo Avenue. [Hopper]
