Sonoma's Estate To Close in September

Some good news and bad news from Sondra Bernstein and John Toulze in Sonoma today. Quick, like ripping off a Band-Aid, the bad news: The property on which their Italian restaurant Estate (400 West Spain) sits has been sold, and the restaurant will close at the end of September. The new owner is Darius Anderson, proprietor of Ramekins Culinary School and Event Center, who will take over on October 1.

While Bernstein and Toulze don't have plans to open Estate elsewhere, they will host pop-up dinners featuring highlights from Estate's menu at Suite D, their new multipurpose event space which will be open for the first time on August 4 as part of the Eighth Street Winery Association Open House. Meanwhile, the partners' flagship The Girl & the Fig restaurant celebrates its 15th anniversary this summer.
