HAYES VALLEY — Boxing Room (399 Grove) now has $1 oysters from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. weekdays. There's also a new $15 "plate lunch" special (dine-in or takeout) consisting of a changing main course, salad, housemade drink, and dessert. Don't forget about that secret po'boy, though. [EaterWire]

UNION SQUARE — Fifth Floor (12 Fourth St.) offers a new take on fried chicken in the lounge for $20. It's actually fried chicken and pork belly with smoked potato puree, glazed peas, and chili garlic sauce, a dish rather good looking chef David Bazirgan created during a guest meal in Boston. THE MISSION — Building permits are in place for a new eatery from Rhea's Deli called Rhea's Cafe (2200 Bryant). Beloved retired menu items might make a comeback in this new and bigger spot. [Mission Mission]

EAST BAY — Alameda's Café Q (2302 Encinal) is now home to chef Jesse Branstetter, founding partner of Chop Bar and the recently-shuttered Vitus. This started as a consulting gig and is now a new partnership. [EBX]
