It's been about three years since the West African club Little Baobab (3388 19th St.) was consolidated from sister spots Bissap Baobab and Bollywood Cafe into a single focus. Now, owner Marco Senghor brings word of a new expanded space called Ataya that's soft opening tonight (August 3) and tomorrow (August 4).
"Little Baobab is adding another room next door to lounge a little," he says of the new project.
Ataya will show African videos and serve African "tapas" into the late night (close time is 2 a.m.). Senghor hopes Ataya will help bring about a more full African experience as Little Baobab often has DJs and live music playing next door. The plan for now is to be open on Fridays and Saturdays only.
