Please take a look at this retro-meets-modern gentleman called Split Bread. The first totally cashless "sandwich bistro" officially starts the rotisseries in motion today at the Metreon in SoMa. Remember customers can pay with a card in advance on-line or in person, but no cash will be accepted on the premises.
The menu features sandwiches priced between $8.95 and $14.95, all of them made with freshly sliced legs of lamb, rib-eye, porchetta, or whole chickens, sandwiched with housemade condiments inside bread from Leadbetter's and Acme.
There are also salads ($8.94-$10.95) and a bunch of $4 sides. Dessert options include homemade popsicles ($3) in flavors like roasted peach and coconut, or cookies ($2) baked in-house. Visit Split Bread seven days a week between the hours of 11 a.m. and 10 p.m., and expect to see another one popping up somewhere in the Financial District in the coming months. As always, early reports go right here, in the tip jar.
