POP-UPS —
Chef Michael Hung's Red Sparrow, which debuted in the spring, returns with a benefit for La Cocina on September 30 at Naked Kitchen (945 Valencia). The five-course Chinese dinner includes poached geoduck clam, beech and shiitake mushrooms in superior broth; eggplant and potato "Foo Yung" with pickled gypsy peppers, quail egg, and X.O. Sauce; and honey-lacquered squab with bok choy hearts and Chingkiang gastrique and scallion pesto. Tickets for communal seating ($125) and the chef's table ($225) are on sale via Eventbrite. WINE COUNTRY — The one-year anniversary of St. Helena's La Condesa (1320 Main) goes down from 5-7 p.m. on September 12 at the restaurant, which will expand to LA in 2013. Expect complimentary whole suckling pig tacos and tequila tastings alongside live music and drink specials at the party. [EaterWire]

LAMBWIRE — Salt House chef Vernon Morales represents San Francisco in the National Lamb Jam Masters Competition, which is a virtual contest unlike his recent local lamb victory. The winner is determined by public votes, so do give him a click if you're so inclined to support him and enjoy his recipe for fig leaf-wrapped lamb loin with tomato fig marmalade. [EaterWire]
