THE MISSION — The vital signs at the "modernized" (yet still shuttered) La Rondalla (901 Valencia) have taken a turn for the political, with a David Campos for Supervisor sign in the window. There's still no word on when the sparkly half-million dollar renovation of the restaurant will be formally unveiled to the public. [EaterWire]

SOMA — Citizen's Band chef Chris Beerman mans the cooking station at Porkapalooza from 1-4 p.m. on September 16 at Bloodhound (1145 Folsom). He'll make pork sliders, bacon beignets, and mini pork ribs to go along with the whole pig, because you'll need more pork with your pork. Get tickets ($60) via Scoutmob. [EaterWire]

COMING ATTRACTIONS — This year's edition of Eat Real Fest (September 21-23 in Oakland's Jack London Square) is free but includes the option of a ticketed affair called Meatopia, a New York-based event that's the brainchild of food writer Josh Ozersky and beginning a select national expansion with this Oakland appearance. The highlight is a tasting from BBQ and meat masters around the country, including World BBQ champ Chris Lilly. Tickets ($50) are for sale here. [EaterWire]

FOOD CARTS — Fatface, the quirky frozen treat stand that sells every Friday at Off the Grid in Fort Mason, is offering a limited edition flavor this evening while supplies last: Chicken and waffle popsicles. Someone should convince them to join the Picnic at the Presidio parties as well. [EaterWire]
