THE MISSION — Foreign Cinema (2534 Mission) celebrates its 13th anniversary on September 27. The regular dinner menu will be available, as will a three-course meal with wine pairings ($50). The bar will shake up an anniversary cocktail called Friday the 13th (Cherry Heering, Hangar One Chipotle, Bitterman's Xocolatl Mole Bitters, and lemon) and Apollo 13 will screen in the courtyard. EMBARCADERO — La Mar Cebicheria Peruana (Pier 1 1/2) is turning four. Customers having dinner on September 29 will receive free sparkling wine and an amuse bouche to celebrate the "Embarcadero staple." [EaterWire]

COMING ATTRACTIONS — Former San Francisco restaurateur Jeremiah Tower is working on a massive food hall in New Rochelle, about 20 miles from New York City. Mario Batali's Eataly and European food halls are the influence. [ISSF]

MEAT! — The rise of the sexy butcher is dissected in a plea for more respect for the meat itself. "The people who are the 'shockers' get all the attention," says Tia Harrison of Avedano's/Butcher's Guild. [San Francisco Magazine]
