COFFEEWIRE — An Eater tipster writes to share the news that San Jose roastery Barefoot Coffee (76 Sunol) soft opened an on-site cafe featuring pastries, hot coffee, cold brew and Dandelion Chocolate bars today (September 26). The grand opening of the so-called Rollup Bar takes place October 5-7 with deals of up to half off. [EaterWire]

SWITCHEROOS — Almost without warning, Som Bar becomes Slate (2925 16th St.) on September 29. There will still be DJs but the space will be more lounge-able than danceable with added seating and a pool table taking up space. [Grub Street]

THE SHUTTER — Shattuck Down Low is closing on October 14; the landlord did not renew the lease. In its place will be a "student-centric" restaurant, bar, and lounge that may open as soon as January. [Daily Californian]

COMING ATTRACTIONS — RN74 (301 Mission) celebrates San Francisco Whiskey Week with a "Behind the Bottle" event at 7 p.m. on October 6. Hudson Whiskey's master distiller pairs his wares with chef Jason Berthold's five-course menu ($125), highlights of which include delicata squash soup, roasted Mission fig and nettles, and Devil's Gulch lamb degustation.
