THE SHUTTER — Petar's (32 Lafayette Circle) will close on January 5. The Lafayette-based restaurant has been open for more than 50 years. [Diablo]

CHEF SHUFFLES — Down in Half Moon Bay, Pasta Moon (315 Main St.) has a new chef. Preston Dishman formerly cooked at San Mateo's Viognier (222 E. Fourth St.) and is refining (but not overhauling) the menu. [ISSF]

WINE COUNTRY — Napa Valley Restaurant Month takes place in January. This brings dining deals of varying quality at over 35 restaurants. The marketers are working overtime; turns out it's also California Restaurant Month. [Napa Valley Register]

SWITCHEROOS — Valley Ford has a new private dining event venue called Dairymen's Bank (14415 Hwy 1) which takes its name from the building's original use in the 19th century. The space was most recently home to Sonoma Coast Fish Bank but the owners closed the seafood market and kept the location for their Firefly Fine Catering. [ISSF]
