Surcharge Woes

San Francisco is getting serious when it comes to Health Care Security Ordinance (HCSO) compliance. Letters went out to offending restaurants today offering partial amnesty to those who have not been on the up-and-up, in some cases pocketing the money they collected for employees' health care, as long as they meet certain conditions. The restaurants targeted in the crackdown have not been identified. Patxi's, which recently reached a settlement agreement with the city, was held up as an example of a restaurant that "stepped up and did the right thing," according to City Attorney Dennis Herrera.
