Mayor Ed Lee wants to avoid the craziness that overtook the city after the World Series (remember the flaming Muni bus?), and thinks the best way to do it is to limit hard alcohol consumption during and after the Super Bowl. While there will be no ban or official restriction, the Mayor and Police Chief Greg Suhr are suggesting that local bars take steps to avoid drunken chaos, such as limiting sales of liquor or offering patrons alternatives to the hard stuff. A dozen people were arrested last Sunday after the 49ers took down the Falcons, including nine for public intoxication. [Chron, Examiner]
