Just weeks ago, Ian Begg and Ryan Maxey announced they would cease operations of Txoko after about 18 months in business. Today, Maxey passes on word that their popular adjacent Naked Lunch will be expanding into the 504 Broadway address. This means night time hours will begin for the sandwich joint for the first time, including beer, wine, and cocktails offered all day long. Of course the star menu item: the fried chicken sandwich isn't going anywhere, but Chef Begg can also add new things now, like a housemade burger with fries. They'll take advantage of the gargantuan space by adding in "a couple of pool tables and TVs." Meanwhile, the whole operation will continue counter service—so no servers—but credit cards will now be accepted.

In a nutshell, it's obvious that Begg and Maxey are gearing up to run a business that can actually turn a profit in the new year, while getting in step with the pizza- and burger-fication of San Francisco, which Begg mentioned in his One Year In interview. New hours are Tuesday through Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to "late," and the kitchen will take a break between 2 and 5 p.m.

Check out Naked Lunch 2.0, beginning at 4 p.m. this Friday. Sweaterfunk will be spinning old school funk records starting at 6pm, and $2 PBRs and $4 draft beer specials will be offered all night long, to welcome in the new with 2013.
