Little Bee Baking, Sweet Treats in Bernal

Little Bee Baking
521 Cortland Ave.
Web: Little Bee Baking/Facebook
Status: Opening today

Little Bee Baking, a brand new bakery and ice cream shop in the former Rock Candy Snack Shop space in Bernal Heights, has officially opened its doors this morning. The spot comes from former Chez Panisse chef Stacie Pierce, and promises fruit tarts, pies, cookies, cakes and organic ice cream, plus plenty of Four Barrel coffee. Pierce's vision is for the space to be a family-friendly bake shop where everything is made in-house with locally sourced and organic ingredients. The shop will also offer custom cakes and desserts for birthdays and other special occasions, as well as bake-at-home items like raw cookie dough and buttery tart dough.

Although each day's offering will change slightly, this week's menu board shows a mouthwatering selection of cookies, from chocolate sea salt to ginger snaps to rosemary cornmeal and gluten-free almond macaroons, plus apple tartlets and a flourless chocolate brownie. Here's a full look at this week's menu board. Hours for the shop, which been remodeled with new wood floors and countertops, are 10am-6pm.
