Michelin 2014 Bib Gourmand Unleashed: See the List

New, 9 comments

MG%202014%20SF%20Cover%20shot.JPGThe star rankings for the 2014 San Francisco Bay Area Michelin Guide won't drop until next Tuesday, but the venerable dining guide is whetting diners' palates early with their picks for the Bib Gourmand, restaurants where diners can enjoy two courses and either a glass of wine or dessert for under $40. As usual, the list contains an array of SF's casual-dining gems, from Delfina to Cotogna to Bar Tartine, as well as awesome ethnic eats from Indian (Dosa, Gajalee) to Japanese (Izakaya Yuzuki, Domo) to Mexican (Mamacita, Regalito).

There were 18 new additions to the list this year, most of which opened in the past year: Backyard, Chalkboard, Ebisu, Evvia, Fey, Glen Ellen Star, Happy Noodles, Izakaya Yuzuki, La Costanera, Mason Pacific, M.Y. China, Ramen Shop, Regalito, Rich Table, Sana Marin, Sir and Star, 1601 Bar & Kitchen, and Vesta. Four restaurants (Betelnut, Kabab & Curry's, K & L Bistro, and Le Charm) were given the boot, while two more, Bar Bambino and Sana Marin, have shut down.

The Michelin Guide also told us that they'll be posting their favorite dishes and reflections on each Bib Gourmand restaurant on their Twitter account over the next few days. They've already praised Rich Table ("Evan & Sarah Rich's marriage sets the bar for their food") and Izakaya Yuzuki ("succulent small plates").
