The Umami Burger empire continues to expand with the addition of a second San Francisco location, which joins Umami outposts in the Marina, Palo Alto and Oakland. Situated within a stone's throw of both AT&T Park and the Caltrain station, the new SoMa location brings more of the L.A.-based chain's signature burgers, truffle fries and hefty salads. Expect a "greatest hits" lineup of burgers, from the original (parmesan crisp, shiitake mushroom, caramelized onions and roasted tomato) to the "Manly" burger (beer-cheddar cheese, bacon lardons, smoked salt onion strings), plus their famous truffle burger and non-meat options like the ahi tuna burger. (See the full menu here.)
In the drinks department, Umami offers a solid beer lineup that includes 5 brews on draft and 10 bottles of such brews as North Coast Old Rasputin, Duvel and Magic Hat. The wine offering includes a selection of four reds and four whites by the glass or bottle, along with two sakes and a sparking wine. The space itself occupies the former Burger Joint address and boasts 99 seats distributed between red booths, two- and four-top tables and a 7-seat bar. It'll be open at 11am every day, and close at 10pm on weeknights and 11pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
