Bel to Bring Belgian to Former Locavore Space in Bernal

Bernal neighborhood favorite Locavore broke hearts when it closed a year ago (its famed burger is missed), but it looks like there's new activity at the spot's Mission Street location. Tablehopper reports that Richard Rosen of Pi Bar is behind the new project, which will be a Belgian-inspired restaurant called Bel.

Rosen (formerly of Chenery Park Restaurant) will serve as the chef, and he plans to turn out classic Belgian dishes like moules frites and local crab croquettes. An ample beer selection will be on offer, and Belgian brews will take center stage. Rosen says he's going for a full-service café with a vibe like you'd find at a sidewalk café in Brussels and Bruges. He's aiming at a spring 2014 opening, so stay tuned for updates.
