The smoke has cleared after Friday morning's Mission fire in Maverick's kitchen, and the news is bad. "It is super difficult to see something we have cultivated, nurtured, and grown go up in smoke," states the restaurant on their Facebook page. "We will be back better and stronger but it's going to be a while. Our hearts go out to the displaced renters upstairs and the best group of employees we have ever known." Maverick shows special concern for their staff, who will be out of work for the many months it will take to repair the damage, although "they will all be snatched up real soon if Bay Area restaurants are smart." So far there's no exact word on the extent of the damage or how long the restaurant will be shuttered. [EaterWire]
