Look-alikes

New, 3 comments

Imitation is the sincerest form of flattery, but tell that to San Francisco spots that have gotten the ripoff treatment, like Rice Paper Scissors and Humphrey Slocombe. Now a Portland ramen shop that's appeared with the name Hapa Ramen has San Francisco Hapa Ramen owner Richie Nakano scratching his head. Nakano first noticed the look-alike a few months ago and contacted the Portland spot's owners, who claimed not to have heard of their southern brethren. "It's just really weird, it seems like the first thing you would do when choosing a business name would be to Google it," says Nakano. "We're not a household name, but I feel like most folks in the ramen game are at least aware of us." [EaterWire]
