Nite Cap To Be Revamped and Reopened

The sun isn't setting on Nite Cap just yet. Rumors were swirling a couple months back that the Tenderloin dive bar had closed, and it turns out the rumors were true. But Inside Scoop reports that an owner switcheroo is putting a new lease on the space, which will retain its name and iconic sign when it reopens.

Dave Esler of Hog & Rocks and Hi-Lo BBQ is behind the revamp, along with bartender Joe Summa and David Linsmayer. They've already begun redoing the interior, raising the ceiling, putting in new windows and adding some booths and banquettes (they've also gotten rid of the pool table). It sounds like whiskey will be a particular focus once the spot opens back up, but so far no word on whether the makeover will retain the bar's divey roots or become a more refined drinking hole.
